Oh, Let's be Mundane, For Once....
Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:26Yeah, but it has to do with writing, so I'm gonna talk about it ^_^ Besides, it's the bright spot of a rather uniformly crappy day.
I won a writing contest at school.
(Okay, well I tied with an older student, but hey -- it was still on the announcements. And no one bloody knew it was me 'cos I used what I always write under -- KT. [Well, save for fanfic, of course ^_~] KT's still my name, just no one but my weird yet smart friends [and I love them, for I'm just like them ;D] from 9th grade call me it.) And I promised Liebchen I would give him due credit: when we heard the announcement mid-last month, he literally turned round and said, "You should totally do that." They had asked for Stephen King-esque stories for the Literary Magazine's Halloween season contest. So, yes, he gave me the nudge.
And I freaking WON. The only thing that's really been said to me past just, "you're one of the winners!" was I was asked again what language the title ("Ceann-uidhe") was in (Gaelic). The story's riddled with Gaelic language, demonology and that like. (Interesting combo, actually.) And, dude -- there's a monetary prize (which at the time I'd turned it in, I hadn't even caught it was a contest.) It's rather...cool. And now it means -hopefully- I can go to the bookstore this weekend *huge-ass grin* Sounds like a plan...
